The main component in Sahasra Lingarchana is to make 1,116 mruthika / clay Siva lingas. To make these many Siva Lingas out of clay we need about 3 to 5 hours. As this is a big task, we can make these few days or one week in advance with a group of devotees. Once siva lingams are made, we can do alankaram by putting vibhuti namam and kumkuma tilakam. When 1,116 Siva lingas are ready, arranging in Kailasa prastharam take about 30 minutes on a pre-printed flex sheet. After everything is ready, the Sahasra Lingarchana program from Ganapathy puja to homam takes about 10 hours. Everybody should be prepared well with physical and mental ability to devotedly focus in the puja well.
